About Derek Batista

In 1991 my fitness education began in a small intimate gym called Butch's Fitness Fitness World owned by none other than Butch Nieves. Over the years Butch and I became close friends and when he decided to start a new fitness venture he asked me to come along with him. So in 2005 I became a certified fitness professional and began my exciting new career in fitness education. Over the years I have learned so much about the body but more importantly I learned about the power of the mind! The old saying "If you can conceive it you can achieve it" certainly hits home for me. Believing you can achieve something is without a doubt the most important factor in becoming successful in life and I consider it an honor and a privilege helping our clients believe they can achieve their fitness goals. I feel blessed being able to wake up every morning and walk into Mr Americas Personal Training and see with my own eyes the desire and determination of our clients. I myself had to show determination to get back into prime condition. In 2007 I had to have both my hips replaced due to a congenital condition called hip dysplasia. Rehabbing my hips was no easy task but I knew that if I worked hard and remained patient my recovery would be rapid. Today I feel better than I have in over 10 years and I am grateful to be in the position I am in helping everyday people realize their fitness goals. To say that I love my job is a tremendous understatement and I am looking forward to see what the future brings to our industry called fitness.
About Albert Maldonado

Al Maldonado is a leading professional personal trainer specializing in body recomposition. Since 1994, Al has trained clients at Equinox, New York Sports Club, privately and now resides as the master trainer at Mr. America’s Personal Training.
As a trained classical guitarist and with a BS in Music Therapy, Al knew that his passion was in the health and fitness arena. So he put his guitar in its case and placed his degree in storage and embarked on a journey, a road less traveled. At Equinox, a specialized program was created, Peak 10, in which a client would be trained in 10 modalities, like spinning, yoga, pilates, boxing, weights, sport-specific, etc. He was chosen to be part of the Peak 10 Training Team. At NYSC, Al was asked by his former personal training manager at Equinox, to join the personal training team at the former Gold’s Gym in NYC. After several years training independently at clients’ home, Al decided he needed to sharpen his training chops and learn more about the business of health and fitness. After answering a local ad for a personal trainer in a local studio, Al was hired by his mentor, colleague and friend, Butch Nieves. (Things were never going to be the same.)
As one of the Bronx top boot camp instructor, Sniper, name given to him by Butch, designs his classes to be challenging, innovating, exciting and fun. As one of his clients has emphatically stated: "I don't know what we did and it didn't seem like much, but I feel like I've been hit by a bus, a hit and run!" Whether in the studio or at Pelham Bay Park, Snipers’ Boot Camps provide that perfect “shed the fat” compliment to personal training.
Al prides himself in discovering different ways to train to alleviate the number one reason why people stop: boredom and lack of results. From bands, med balls, sleds, furniture movers, dumbbells to your own body, Al is willing to use whatever tools to assist his clients to reach their full potential. One of ways Al breaks from the status quo is with nutrition. He advocates a healthy alternative to the low fat diet: a low carbohydrate lifestyle. After losing 25lbs on a low carb diet and spending countless hours researching its benefits, Al shares this knowledge onto his many clients via ebook.
